For the week of 1/15 to 1/21/10


Berean Sports

Tonight, the junior high and varsity basketball teams will compete in a home game at Springbrook against Faith of Davison.  The junior high game starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 6:45 p.m.  The 1st – 3rd grade boys will play during halftime of the varsity game.  **Junior high players need to be @ Springbrook no later than 5:00 p.m. and varsity players need to be there by 6:15 p.m.**

Tuesday, January 19th, both basketball teams and cheerleaders will be traveling to Stateline.  The bus will be leaving at 3:45 p.m. and returning at approximately 9:30 p.m.  There will be shooting practice from 3:05 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. in the BBA gym.  The junior high game starts at 5:00 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.  Students will need money for supper after the game.

Friday, January 22nd, the junior high basketaball team has a home game at Springbrook at 5:30 p.m. against Antioch Baptist (JV).  The varsity basketball team has a home game at Springbook at 7:00 p.m. against Tri County Patriots.  The 1st – 3rd grade boys will play during halftime of the varsity game.  **The junior high players need to be @ Springrook by 5 p.m., and the varsity players need to be there by 6:30 p.m.**


Fine Arts Competition

Once again, our students have the opportunity to participate in the Fine Arts Competition, hosted by Stateline Christian.  The students were given a detailed list of categories to choose from.  Each category is listed under one of the following areas: Bible, Music, Speech, and Art & Photography. The Fine Arts Competition will take place March 11th & 12th.
Details concerning these events will be announced at a later date.

Any student planning to participate in the Fine Arts Competition must sign up & turn in a $15 registration fee ($10 each additional student per family) no later than Friday, February 5th.  The fee includes lunch.


Free Money

General Mills has rewarded Berean Baptist Academy with $190 for our efforts in collecting and turning in Box Tops for Education.  Please continue to collect box tops this semester and turn them in to the school office.


Homecoming

The 2010 Homecoming Ceremony will take place at Springbrook on Friday, February 5th.  The ceremony will begin at 5:15 p.m., followed by the junior high game at 6:00 p.m. and the varsity game at 7:45 p.m.  Everyone participating in the homecoming ceremony need to arrive at 5:00 p.m.


Honor Roll Lunch

Wednesday, January 20th, the A & B Honor Roll students will enjoy a special lunch at the McDonalds on North Main.  Parents may meet their young person at the restaurant.  Elementary students will be eating between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.  Jr. / Sr. high students will be eating between 12:10 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.  Permissions slips will go home Monday.


Senior Recognition Night

Every year we like to take an evening at a home basketball game to honor our senior class.  This year's Senior Recognition Night will be held in the Springbrook gymnasium on Friday, Februrary 19th at 5:15 p.m.  Also, the senior class BAKED-GOODS AUCTION will take place throughout the evening's events, so come prepared! $$$

The following letter was from Mrs. Judy Hayes (Berean Armed Forces Ministries) was receive in December.

"I sure do love, miss, and pray for the church and the school daily.  Tell every one we said hello and we send our love and prayers to you all.  God bless for all you do."


Transportation & Dismissal

Parents: Please inform the school office of any changes in transportation concerning your children.  The teachers are not permitted ot let the students leave with someone else, if they have not been informed through the school office.
Also, be aware that the elementary students are not dismissed from the sidewalk until AFTER the cones have been put in place.  This policy is strictly enforced for the safety of our students.
